About Flota Mercante del Estado

Flota Mercante del Estado. The State Merchant Fleet came into being in 1941 with the need to replace overseas tonnage that ceased to frequent its ports as a result of WW2 with ships from sundry countries that were stranded being acquired. In 1962 it was merged into the newly formed Empresa Lineas Maritimas Argentinas.
