Theres Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield parted per pale, at dexter Gules a kettle Or with handles of the same on a tripod Argent, at sinister a fox rampant Gules armed Azure.
Meaning:
The municipality was established in 1978 by a merger of Obertheres, Buch, Horhausen and Untertheres. The new municipality adopted the arms of Obertheres, approved in 1959, without changes. The kettle is an attribute of St. Vitus and is alluding to the Benedictine Theres Monastery, which had been founded by Bishop Suidger of Bamberg, who later became Pope Clemens II. St. Vitus and St. Stephen had been the patron saints of the monastery. Obertheres had been part of the basic equipment of the monastery, which ruled the village until 1802, when the monastery was secularised and transformed to a castle. The church was demolished the same year. The fox is the heraldic animal of the Fuchs family. Gregor Fuchs had been abbot in Theres between 1715 and 1755. He rebuilt the church of the abbey and built the parish church of Untertheres, which nowaday contains parts of the equipment of the church of the abbey.
