Schliersee Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, sitting on a chair Or a pope Argent, dressed Argent, coated Or with tiara Or, holding a sword Argent hilted Or and pointing downwards by his left hand and rising his right hand for blessings.
Meaning:
The pope is the martyr Sixtus II (died 6 August 258). His pontificate lasted not even one year, when he was murdered in church by the soldiers of the Roman Emperor Valerian. Sixtus II is patron saint of abbey and parish church of the town. The arms are basically the same as those of the local abbey, but there the saint is holding a book by his left hand. Schliersee gained the status of a market town in 1919.

The arms were granted on 8 January 1913 and confirmed on 6 October 1926 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. The banner is in use at least since 1968.
