Hainichen Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, issuant from base a wall Or masoned Sable topped by a turret of the same with roof Gules and shaped like a canopy, on its gate an inescutcheon Azure charged with a bird statant Or holding a branch Vert by his beak.
Meaning:
On the estates of the Cistercian Altzella Monastery a parish developed, which was called a market town in 1276 and a city in 1282. Manorial lords had been the Lords of Hohnsberg and since 1466 the Oberschöna Estate. The bird was supposed to be either a rooster or a nightingale, singing in a grove (German: Hain). But it is probably a hen, which had been the heraldic animal of the former manorial lords, which had also been the liege lords of the city.

A plain banner and the arms were confirmed on 19 May 1897 by Minister of Interior of Sachsen. The banner with arms is probably in use without approval.
