Marianas Village Pride* Art contest

In June 2022, after the Marianas Village Pride* Art contest hosted by the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisers in partnership with the CNMI Public School System and the Saipan, Tinian, and Rota mayors’ offices, 35 flags of the country's villages were unveiled.

There are four municipalities in Northern Marianas, and villages are sub-municipal entities. There are 35 official villages: 29 in Saipan Municipality, 3 in Rota Municipality, and 3 in Tinian Municipality. The Northern Islands Municipality has no villages, as it is now deserted and uninhabited.

All flags have a blue horizontal stripe at the top containing the village name in white capital letters. The names under the flags are of the wining designers.

This month (December 2022) the CNMI Governor’s Council of Economic Advisers starts individual flag contests for the unofficial villages (The Northern Marianas have many unofficial villages). You can see the entries at https://www.facebook.com/cnmigov.economy

*Pride Art contest has no connection with Pride activities of the LGBT community.
