In Zvolen (Hungarian: Zólyom, German: Altsohl) live 41.984 inhabitants (1990 Census). The city was the capital of Zólyom (Slovakian: Zvolen) County, Hungary, till 1918/1920 (Czechoslovakian Occupation). There is a very beautiful castle in the city.
