BIO-CAT is a research and production company based in Louisa County,
Virginia, that specializes in enzymes and microbials, according to the company's
website (https://www.bio-cat.com/about-us/).
The company was founded in 1988 as a wholesaler of enzyme and enzyme blends
before purchasing Advanced Microbial Systems--based in Shakopee, Minnesota--in
2004. According to the website, the company offers "an extensive range of
products, including natural enzymes and blends and non-GMO microbials." The
company's products are used in food and beverage production, brewing and
distilling, dietary supplements, probiotics for humans and animals, agriculture,
aquaculture, and cleaning productions, among others.
We recently drove
past their Louisa County facility, and saw the company's flag flying outside the
building, along with the American and Virginia flags. The company flag is a
standard design among American corporations, featuring the company logo centered
on a white field. The logo itself features six stacked hexagons, likely symbolic
of the company's chemical-related business, with the large green letter "B" next
to the large orange letter "C" in the lower right corner of the hexagon stock.
Below that is the company name, "BIO-CAT," in black, block capital letters. A
photograph showing the flag flying can also be seen on the company's website at
https://www.bio-cat.com/.
